LEMIEUX LANDS IN STURGEON BAY VICTORY LANE

by Joe Orsini

43 cars and stars rolled into the pits to do battle for the rescheduled T. Simon Jewelers Night at the Races. With Mother Nature literally threatening to rain on the raceday parade the drivers
would battle her as well as each other.

The Woody’s Signs Stock Car feature event saw Darren Otto rocket into the lead from his outside front row starting spot. Caden Lemieux worked his way into 2nd on lap 3 but would lose that spot less than a handful of laps later as Dan Sell Jr. piloted around Lemieux into the runner up spot. At the halfway mark Otto continued to set the pace over Sell Jr., Lemieux, Dan Sell Sr.,
and Brett Wenzel. Misfortune struck the younger Sell on lap 12 when his Ford powered machine came up gimpy out of turn 4 and his night ended on the infield. The ensuing caution regrouped the field and had Otto lead the restart with Lemieux hot on his tail. Lemieux took full advantage of this opportunity and shot into the lead on lap 14, bringing Wenzel along with him as the 0 car grabbed 2nd from Otto as well. Lemieux held on over the closing laps and nabbed his first win of the 2024 season. Wenzel settled for 2nd, Otto 3rd, Dan Sell Sr. 4th, and Mike “The Longest Yard” Pierrard rounded out the top 5.

The Kroll Machine and Fabrication Northern Sportmod A main event opened with Alec Wery grabbing the top spot from the front row. Wery dominated the field and survived a late race restart to capture the $500 top prize for the night. “Grandpa” Dennis Miesler finished 2nd, Mike Plate Sr. was 3rd, Craig Dorner 4th, and Brad Miller closed out the top 5.

The Millies Pub and Grub Unified Dirt Street Stock main event started with “Crazy” Tyler Fox and Bailey Laviolette on the front row. Fox used that pole position to snatch the early lead. Fox held the lead until the double checkers flew, securing his first career Unified Dirt Street Stock feature win. Devin Yaeger was 2nd, Matt Hanson 3rd, Laviolette 4th, and Tony Everard came
home 5th.

The 4 Cylinder A-main kicked off with TJ Everard leading the opening lap but faced immediate pressure for the top spot from Nick Everard. Scott Schlafke quickly worked to 3rd and was pressuring the lead duo as Mother Nature decided to rear her ugly head as rain began to fall on the speedway. The race was weather shortened and TJ Everard locked up his first feature win
of the season, Nick Everard placed 2nd, Schlafke 3rd, Jessaaron Bauer 4th, and Bo White was 5th.
